Well It is official, Tim Windell himself called from the Oval Office minutes ago and made the announcment: "WINDELLS CAMP will have a second lift for the Summer of 2010." Windells is once again the first summer shred camp in the
history of the world to own, operate and install, two of its very own private rope-tows!

All Member Resorts Receive Fresh Powder, Ready For Spring Break

Denver, CO, March 9, 2010 – Spring break travelers to Colorado this week will be welcomed by events, deals and double digit amounts of fresh snow. In the last 48 hours, snow accumulation in the mountains has reached as much as 18 inches at resorts such as Monarch and Wolf Creek.

Other resorts with two-day, double-digit snow totals include Telluride, Powderhorn and Silverton each with 15 inches. Copper Mountain and Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort are measuring 10 inches.

Eight inches of fresh snow fell at Arapahoe Basin and Snowmass over the last two days. Just over half-a-foot of winter white coated Winter Park while six inches piled up at Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Loveland and Ski Cooper.

Our crew headed up to Powder Mountain for a 3 day session with Jeff King and the guys from Built to Shred. With plenty of pole jam’s, along with some bus jibs, and teeter totters, Kinger had us busy for sure! The signal riders kept the film crew busy with endless hammers on the features, and the episode is sure to be a highlight when it airs in the fall – keep an eye out for it!

We got a few feet of the good stuff this week and headed up to Sugar Bowl to shred. While hiking up to the summit you could see the avalanche control blast holes marking our prospective lines as safe for the taking. Lacking the commonsense items of shovel and transceivers dropping into the backcountry was out of the question for this particular powder day. Because these tools may not be commonsense to everyone Sugar Bowl Resort has launched the new Backcountry Adventure Center (BAC) to help educate and guide the public through tools and techniques of backcountry touring. How do you check for avalanche danger when hiking out-of-bounds? How do you use your transceiver if a companion get buried?

Burlington, VT (March 8, 2010) The 28th annual US Open Snowboarding Championships will once again host thousands of fans and many of the world’s top snowboarders for a weekend of slopestyle, rail jam and halfpipe competitions. Taking place at Stratton Mountain Resort from March 15-21, the Open is the first US event since the 2010 Olympics where snowboard medalists Shaun White, Peetu Piiroinen, Scotty Lago, Hannah Teter and Kelly Clark will compete.

In addition to all three men’s 2010 Olympic halfpipe medalists, the US Open rider roster includes 2009 Burton Global Open Series (BGOS) Champion Chas Guldemond (USA), two-time Olympian and US Open podium threat Kazuhiro Kokubo (JPN), Luke Mitrani (USA), Mikkel Bang (NOR), current BGOS points leader Christian Haller (SUI) and Mason Aguirre (USA).

Every time the Campus Rail Jam Tour rolls through Salt Lake City three things are guaranteed to happen. First off, someone from the crew will feel the need rant for an hour about how weak the libations are. Second, that same person will end the night hugging the toilet from too much “weak” party sauce (A classic case of “over-hydration”). Lastly, the local shreds will completely destroy the setup and put on one of the best shows of the entire tour. Guaranteed.

Oakley Arctic Challenge Winner Peetu Piiroinen Secures Swatch TTR World Champion Title

Oslo, Norway – March 7th 2010: One of the most impressive snowboard athletes in the world today, Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), reconfirmed his reputation with a first place finish at the coveted 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge. The crowds at Tryvann Vinterpark in Oslo, Norway witnessed a piece of snowboarding history as 21-year old Peetu Piiroinen took first place in today’s slopestyle competition, and with an additional 1000 TTR ranking points on his account, he took an unassailable lead in the TTR World Rankings. In two weeks time, he will be crowned Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champion at the final 6Star event of the Tour, the Burton US Open. The Arctic Challenge podium was rounded out by Norwegian favourites Torstein Horgmo in second place and Mikkel Bang in third.
